The Senate Judiciary Committee advanced two Biden trial court nominees whose consideration was delayed for weeks while Democrats struggled to muster a decisive majority.
Eumi Lee, tapped for the San Francisco-based Northern District of California, and Mustafa Kasubhai, picked for the District of Oregon, each were approved Thursday on party line votes.
Votes had previously been delayed by the absence of Sen. Dianne Feinstein before the California Democrat’s death was announced, and later the health-related absences of Sen. Laphonza Butler (D-Calif.)—appointed to replace Feinstein—Chair Dick Durbin (D-Ill), and Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.).
