Maryland’s federal district judges urged a federal appeals court to not toss out a lower court ruling against the Trump administration’s lawsuit against them, even as the Justice Department seeks to drop their appeal of the decision.
The US district judges of the District of Maryland on Friday told the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit that they’re fine with the administration dropping the appeal. They said the lawsuit against their court—over a standing order that blocked the immediate deportation of detained noncitizens who filed habeas petitions—"never should have been filed.”
