Judge Who Refused Psychiatric Exam Fights Misconduct Finding

U.S. District Judge John R. Adams asked a federal appeals court Thursday to revive his lawsuit against a circuit judicial council, arguing the council’s finding that he committed misconduct by failing to take a mental health evaluation caused damage to his reputation.

A lower court judge previously found Adams’ case was moot after the Judicial Council of the Sixth Judicial Circuit withdrew the requirement that he undergo a mental health evaluation. Adams has served on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio for 18 years.
