Maine Gun Buyer Waiting Period Frozen During Court Challenge

A group of Maine residents and small business owners won their bid for a temporary halt to enforcement of Maine’s 72-hour “cooling-off period” for firearm sales during their constitutional challenge.

They established that they are likely to prevail on the merits of their Second Amendment challenge and that they would suffer irreparable harm without an injunction barring enforcement during the case, Judge Lance E. Walker, of the US District Court for the District of Maine, said Thursday.
