Judge Grants Temporary Pause in Florida Noncompete Challenge (1)

A federal judge temporarily blocked the Federal Trade Commission’s pending ban on worker noncompetes from applying to a real estate firm in The Villages, Fla., in the latest court decision weighing in on the sweeping labor policy.

Judge Timothy Corrigan of the US District Court for the Middle District of Florida granted a motion for preliminary injunction from the Properties of the Villages Inc. The order, which followed a Wednesday hearing, only applies to the named plaintiff and won’t prevent the FTC’s rule from going into effect Sept. 4.
