Jones Day grabbed seven Supreme Court clerks from the 2020-21 term, hiring from the chambers of every Republican-appointed justice besides Chief Justice John Roberts.
With its latest large clerk class, the firm’s haul is two shy of last year’s and is more concentrated in the court’s five most conservative justices: Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett.
Traci L. Lovitt, the firm’s Issues & Appeals practice head, said the hires have joined in four different offices. One returns to the firm as a partner.
