Former President Donald Trump cleared Steve Bannon to speak to a House panel investigating the Capitol insurrection, setting the stage for a fresh round of potentially dramatic testimony.

The onetime Trump White House strategist’s refusal to testify had put him at risk of two years in jail and large fines if convicted of contempt of Congress charges. Bannon is set to go on trial July 18, and prosecutors said in a court filing Monday that the case won’t be affected by him testifying to the committee.
