A group of independent musicians filed a proposed class action against the companies behind Mureka, an AI song-generation platform they say copied their sound recordings and compositions to create products that directly compete with their original works.
Chinese tech firm Kunlun Tech Co. Ltd. and Singapore company Skywork AI Pte. Ltd., which operate the artificial intelligence platform, market Mureka as a “global AI music factory” and its output as “royalty-free substitutes for licensed music,” according to a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
