Indiana has joined the vast majority of other states that have simplified rules governing law firm names.
“The Indiana Supreme Court’s amendment of Rule 7.5 continues the trend of this modernization, which helps to simplify and streamline the rules, while still taking into account the public protection concerns,” said Trisha M. Rich, co-chair of Holland & Knight’s legal professional team.
The rule was intended to prevent lawyers from “unscrupulously advertising to or soliciting clients in a way that harms the public,” Rich said in an email.
