Illinois is increasing its administrative fee for wage payment violations, under a bill effective Aug. 1.
Employers are subject to the administrative fee if they have been ordered by the Department of Labor to pay wages to an employee. The fee, which is paid to the department, is rising to $500 if the amount of wages owed is $3,000 of less, $750 if the amount of wages owed is more than $3,000 but less than $10,000, and $1,250 if the amount of wages owed is at least $10,000, under SB 2164.
