Idaho Abortion Providers’ Suit Challenges Travel Ban Opinion

A Planned Parenthood affiliate sued Idaho’s attorney general over his threat to take legal action against doctors who refer patients for out-of-state abortions.

At issue is a March 27 legal opinion in which Raúl Labrador (R) said that state law prohibits medical professionals from advising or helping patients to leave Idaho to obtain abortions. Physicians who do so risk having their licenses suspended, Labrador said.

The lawsuit involves the next frontier for abortion litigation, as some states try to make laws prohibiting people from traveling to states where abortion is legal to undergo the procedure. Arkansas, Missouri, and South Dakota ...
