Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials must revise restrictions implemented due to Covid-19 at an immigrant detention facility in Southern California, to allow for confidential talks between detainees and their lawyers, a federal judge ruled Saturday.
Several detainees at the Adelanto ICE Processing Center in San Bernardino County moved for a temporary restraining order in light of restrictions on attorney visitation that purportedly violated the detainees’ constitutional rights. They said the novel coronavirus pandemic exacerbated the obstacles already present to attorney-client communication at the detention facility.
