Honda Accuses Major Railroads of Freight Price-Fixing (1)

The four largest U.S. Class I railroads engaged in price fixing for freight transportation services, American Honda Motor Co. alleges in a federal lawsuit filed Thursday.

From 2003 until at least 2008, BNSF Railway Co., Union Pacific Railroad Co., CSX Transportation Inc., and Norfolk Southern Railway Co. conspired “to use rail fuel surcharges, which were added to AHM’s bills, as a means to fix, raise, maintain, and/or stabilize prices of rail freight transportation services sold in the United States,” according to Honda’s complaint at the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
