Homeland Agency Fixing ‘Atrophied’ Relationships, Official Says

Information-sharing among federal and local law enforcement agencies declined during the Trump administration, leaving new leaders to rebuild relationships with longtime partners, a senior Department of Homeland Security official said.

Counterterrorism coordinator John Cohen told House lawmakers Wednesday that he was disappointed in the state of cooperation when he rejoined the agency this year.

“Some of the information-sharing relationships the department had forged over years had atrophied,” said Cohen, who worked at DHS during George W. Bush and Barack Obama’s administrations.
