High Profile Murder Trial Protesters Denied Emergency Relief

A group of people who protested in support of a high-profile murder defendant lost their bid for emergency relief in their challenge of a Massachusetts witness intimidation law they say hinders their free speech.

Six people who protested in support of Karen Read in Canton, Massachusetts had their appeal dismissed Thursday after the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit found their request for emergency relief was now moot. The panel said because the Canton Police Department and other city officials had withdrawn charges against the six protesters, there was no conduct left for the court to enjoin.
