Harvard University is potentially liable for a professor’s alleged threats to destroy the careers of graduate students who warned others that he allegedly sexually harassed female students, the US told a federal trial court in Massachusetts.
The federal government isn’t a party to the suit, in which the students are seeking damages under Title IX for sexual harassment and retaliation. But it has an interest in ensuring that recipients of federal funds under the law comply with it, Justice Department lawyers told the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
