A former George Washington University tennis player succeeded Friday in reviving his civil rights case against the school, persuading a federal appeals court that a judge applied the wrong statute of limitations to his allegations of racist harassment by teammates and coaches.

The US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit reinstated Jabari Stafford’s hostile environment claims under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which bars race-based discrimination against anyone participating in a federally funded program.
