Gun Makers Beat Mexico’s Claims of Illegal Firearm Trafficking

Gun manufacturers, including Smith & Wesson Brands Inc., Sturm, Ruger & Co., Beretta USA Corp., and Colt’s Manufacturing Co., shook off allegations that they allow the unlawful trafficking of guns into Mexico.

The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which shields gun manufacturers and distributors from liability, bars the bulk of the claims, which are based in common law, Judge F. Dennis Saylor IV of the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts ruled Sept. 30.
