GOP Sues Delaware, Seeking Injunction Against Vote-by-Mail Law

The Republican Party of Delaware sued the state elections department Wednesday, seeking to block a newly enacted law permitting universal mail-in voting during the Covid-19 pandemic and providing for an absentee ballot application to be automatically sent to every registered voter.

The statute “impermissibly expands the enumerated and exhaustive grounds for voting via absentee mail ballot” listed in the Delaware Constitution, the Chancery Court complaint says. And it isn’t authorized by the state constitution’s emergency provisions, the lawsuit adds.
