Google Skirts Class Action Claiming It Collected Health Data

Google LLC convinced a federal judge to dismiss a class action alleging it deployed tracking technology to collect and monetize patients’ health information as the judge found the complaint “incredibly long” and “difficult to follow.”

The unnamed plaintiffs in a May 2023 complaint said Google violated not only state and federal law but also its own privacy policy by tracking, collecting, and monetizing their health data through source code it secretively embedded on their health care providers’ websites.
