Google, Meta Sued for Collecting Patients’ Prescription Info (1)

Google LLC and Meta Platforms Inc. collected the personal information of patients seeking treatment for erectile dysfunction through Dermacare LLC without their consent in violation of California privacy laws, a proposed federal class action said.

An anonymous plaintiff alleged that Dermacare, which does business as BlueChew, installed online tracking tools from Google and Meta on its website, allowing the social media companies to obtain their sensitive personal information without their knowledge or consent.

Information concerning patients’ health care and prescriptions is protected by federal and state law, and the plaintiffs had a reasonable expectation that it wouldn’t be disclosed ...
