Google Beats Bid to Revive ‘Local Guides’ Contract Breach Suit

Google LLC wasn’t making an offer to contract when it sent users an email about the “cool benefits” of joining the company’s Local Guides program, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit said Thursday.

The decision affirms summary judgment to Google that ended a 2018 class action alleging breach of contract and conversion claims after Google allegedly failed to honor a promise of free Google Drive storage.

The emailed advertisement informed users that by joining Google’s Local Guides program and contributing to Google Maps, they could receive one terabyte of Google Drive storage.
