GoDaddy Agrees to New Security Practices in FTC Settlement (1)

Web hosting company GoDaddy Inc. will adopt new information security measures to settle allegations from the Federal Trade Commission that it failed to secure customers and visitors from security breaches, the FTC announced.

The company failed to implement appropriate security measures, including not monitoring security-related events, and misled customers about its security practices, according to a complaint filed Wednesday at the agency. The lax security practices led to several major breaches between 2019 and 2022, according to the complaint. Those included a 2020 compromise of some 28,0000 usernames and passwords.
