Ghirardelli ‘Classic White’ Baking Chip False Ad Suit Settled

Ghirardelli Chocolate Co. and customers alleging the company deceptively portrayed its “Premium Baking Chips Classic White Chips” have settled the claims, according to a federal appeals court filing.

Linda Cheslow and Steven Prescott alleged the product’s name and the package images mislead reasonable consumers into thinking the chips contain white chocolate when they have no cocoa butter and are made with inferior ingredients.

Their proposed class action was dismissed in July 2020. The product name isn’t deceptive, and the ingredient list dispels any confusion about the content of the chips, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ...
