Georgia-Pacific, Weyerhaeuser Win Cancer-Causing Wood Dust Case

A North Carolina man who allegedly developed cancer after wood dust exposure as a child lost his bid to revive a lawsuit against lumber companies, after the Fourth Circuit said Wednesday it wasn’t generally known then that the dust caused cancer.

Georgia-Pacific Wood Products LLC, Georgia-Pacific LLC, and Weyerhaeuser Co. held onto their win in Christopher Lightwood’s duty-to-warn case, as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit affirmed a lower court’s decision granting them summary judgment.
