Georgia Nude-Dancing Clubs Lose Fight Against Permit Regulations

The owner of two Augusta, Ga., nude-dancing clubs on Wednesday lost a free speech challenge to a city ordinance that, it says, is intended to eliminate live adult entertainment in the city.

A 2003 Augusta law that imposes various permitting, licensing, and zoning regulations on “erotic dance” and “adult dancing” establishments doesn’t violate the First Amendment rights of businesses like Discotheque Inc., the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit said in an unpublished opinion.
