Geico to Pay $6 Million Under Settlement With Claims Adjusters

Geico received court approval for a $6 million settlement to resolve litigation brought by current and former employees in Maryland and New York who alleged the company violated wage and hour laws.

The class actions claimed that the insurance giant violated the Fair Labor Standards Act and various state laws by failing to properly pay auto claims adjusters for all hours they worked. Geico denied those allegations, maintaining that it had no knowledge of the allegedly unpaid overtime hours worked because the workers’ time cards didn’t include them.
