Ga. Att’y Disbarred for Forging Signature, Cashing Check

A Georgia attorney who forged a client’s signature on a settlement check and then deposited it into his personal account was recently disbarred by the state’s highest court.

The state disciplinary board found that Clarence A. Sydnor IV “acted with a dishonest and selfish motive,” the Supreme Court of Georgia said in its per curiam opinion imposing disbarment.

Sydnor represented the client in the settlement of her car accident claim in 2018, the court said. After the insurance company issued the check for $8,300, the client signed a release and settlement agreement, it said.
