The US Supreme Court appeared likely to rule against cryptocurrency customers seeking to avoid arbitration even while it was clear several justices thought the dispute would return to federal court.
The conservative-led court heard argument on Wednesday on the question of whether a federal court or an arbitrator should decide whether the case involving Coinbase Inc. belongs in arbitration.
“Who decides?” asked attorney Jessica Ellsworth, who represented Coinbase against customer claims they were duped into paying $100 to enter a company sponsored sweepstakes.
