Freshworks Inc., a provider of customer service and employee management software, has named Pam Sergeeff as its first chief legal officer and general counsel.
Sergeeff joins San Mateo, Calif.-based Freshworks from television software company TiVo Inc., where she spent four years as general counsel and chief compliance officer.
At Freshworks, her responsibilities will include product compliance, data protection, and privacy, according to a Monday statement. The company’s customers include Bridgestone Corp., OfficeMax, and Vice Media Group.
The company’s hire comes after it reported a 40% increase in revenue last year driven by healthcare, education, and government clients. Freshworks reached $300 million in annual subscription revenue as the pandemic forced businesses to shift services online.
In February, Freshworks CEO and Founder Girish Mathrubootham told Bloomberg News that the company would consider all the options to go public, including a deal with a special purpose acquisition company or a direct listing.
“We are readying the company for every possible scenario,” Mathrubootham said, though there was no immediate plan for an initial public offering.
Sergeeff is one of a slew of executives to join Freshworks in the past year, including Randi Bryant as chief diversity and inclusion officer, Stacey Epstein as chief marketing officer, and José Morales as chief revenue officer.
Before her time with TiVo, Sergeeff worked for Macrovision Corp., which later become Rovi Corp. and acquired TiVo in 2016. She also spent time with VERITAS Software after beginning her career as an associate with Fenwick & West.
“I am personally inspired by the Freshworks mission,” Sergeeff said in the statement, “to create business software solutions that bring delight to customers and employees.”
