President Joe Biden’s pick for a North Carolina appellate seat is at the center of a new debate over the role home-state senators play in picking federal circuit court nominees.

Senate Judiciary member Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) repeated his criticisms Wednesday of the Biden White House for not properly consulting the state’s two Republican senators before nominating Ryan Park, North Carolina’s solicitor general, for a seat on the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
