Deion Sanders’ ex wife successfully appealed a 2015 court ruling holding her liable for defamation for claiming the NFL Hall-of-Famer and sports commentator abused her and her children, a Texas appeals court ruled (Sanders v. Sanders, 2017 BL 304204, Tex. App., 5th Dist., No. 05-16-00248-CV, 8/29/17).
Pilar Sanders prevailed on her claim that her ex-husband failed to prove she acted with negligence or malice in the Texas defamation suit in which he was awarded $2.2 million in damages, the Court of Appeals, Fifth District at Dallas, said in an Aug. 29 opinion.
