The White House on Wednesday announced three new intended federal district court nominees, including former Rep. Anthony Brindisi (D-N.Y.).
Brindisi, who served in the House from 2019 to 2021, is currently a judge on the New York State Court of Claims in Utica, N.Y.
Judge David Hurd, who currently serves on the US District Court for the Northern District of New York, had rescinded earlier plans to retire unless his successor also sits in Utica.
Hurd rescinded his first letter announcing plans to take senior status in 2022, which scuttled the nomination of Albany lawyer Alberto Rodriguez to the seat. He submitted a second letter announcing plans to step aside in March.
The White House also announced plans to nominate Tiffany Johnson, an assistant US attorney in the Northern District of Georgia, to a seat on that court and Keli Neary, a senior attorney in the Pennsylvania attorney general’s office, to a seat on the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
