A former scientist at drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline PLC pleaded guilty Aug. 31 to conspiracy to steal trade secrets from the company to benefit a Chinese company, federal prosecutors in Philadelphia said.
Yu Xue of Wayne, Pa., pleaded guilty to sending a number of GSK’s scientific documents containing trade secrets to China, U.S. Attorney William M. McSwain announced Aug. 31.
Xue, who worked to develop biopharmaceutical products at Glaxo’s research facility in Upper Merion, Pa., created a company called Renopharma in Nanjing, China, with two of her associates there, Tao Li and Yan Mei, according to the criminal complaint.
