Ford Motors Beats Former Worker’s Race Bias, Retaliation Suit

Ford Motor Co. defeated a former employee’s race discrimination and retaliation allegations because he failed to identify any usable evidence, an Ohio federal court ruled.

Bentley Cooks, a Black man, alleged he was “birdwatched,” unfairly treated, and terminated due to his race. He sued in the US District Court for the Northern District of Ohio asserting violations under state law.

Judge James R. Knepp II granted summary judgment in favor of Ford due to Cooks’ failure to meet the burden of his prima facie case.
