Football Coach Bret Bielema May Pursue $7 Million in Back Pay

Former University of Arkansas head football coach Bret Bielema may proceed with claims against the Razorback Foundation Inc. for more than $7 million in unpaid buyout payments after his firing in 2017, because the foundation failed to show it has immunity from being sued, the Western District of Arkansas said.

The suit names as the defendant the foundation, which funds the school’s athletic programs.

Bielema, who is currently employed as outside linebacker coach and senior defensive assistant for the New York Giants, asserts the foundation violated his contract when it terminated payments because he allegedly made “material breaches” by failing ...
