Fluor Faces Revived Asbestos Suit Over Budweiser Brewery Work

Fluor Corp. must face a California tradesman’s claims that he was exposed to asbestos in Fluor products while working at an Anheuser-Busch facility despite the fact that his testimony on the project was inconsistent, a state appellate court said Monday.

Michael Benavidez sued Fluor in Los Angeles County Superior Court alleging negligence related to its use of asbestos-containing insulation and other building materials at the Budweiser brewery in the 1970s.

Fluor’s products released toxic substances into the air and caused Benavidez, a sheet-metal worker, to develop an asbestos-related illness, he said.
