Florida’s Voter Signature-Match Law Changes Make Lawsuit Moot

The Florida Legislature’s significant changes to the state’s signature-match voting laws renders moot the challenge brought by the Bill Nelson for U.S. Senate campaign and the state’s Democratic Executive Committee following a tight 2018 election that triggered a recount, the Eleventh Circuit ruled Wednesday.

But the court denied the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s request to vacate its orders, which upheld a district court injunction blocking Florida from subjecting mail-in and provisional ballots to signature-match review.
