Florida would loosen its restrictions on 16- and 17-year-olds working on residential construction sites under legislation newly approved by the state House of Representatives.
The bill (HB 917) passed Wednesday is one of at least two measures moving through the Florida legislature this session to relax the state’s child labor laws. The other (HB 49), which the House passed Feb. 1, would let teens work later and longer hours on school nights. Each bill still needs Senate approval before going to Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for his signature or veto.
