Veteran trial lawyer Arun Subramanian was confirmed as the first person of South Asian descent to serve on the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
The Senate on Tuesday confirmed the veteran Susman Godfrey partner with bipartisan backing, 59-37.
Subramanian, 43, replaces Alison Nathan, another Biden appointee who was elevated to the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit last year. The Southern District, which includes Manhattan, is an important trial court for terrorism, white collar and organized crime cases.
