A former Olympic soccer coach for Nigeria asked the Second Circuit on Wednesday to revive a civil rights lawsuit against FIFA over the group’s decision to ban him for life for allegedly accepting bribes.
Samson Siasia, who coached the Nigeria Under-23 Olympic national soccer team, which was awarded a silver medal in the 2008 Summer Olympics in China, alleged FIFA deprived him of due process when pursuing him for bribery.
FIFA prosecuted Siasia based on emails between the Nigerian coach and Wilson Perumal, a Singaporean arrested for fixing soccer matches.
