The Federal Reserve made its next move in a legal battle over US Justice Departmentsubpoenas obtained as part of an investigation into building renovations overseen by Chair Jerome Powell, setting the stage for an appeal by the side that loses.

The central bank made a court filing Wednesday in response to a request by US Attorney Jeanine Pirro asking US District Chief Judge James Boasberg to reconsider his ruling to quash the subpoenas. The filing was sealed and the contents could not be immediately learned.
