The federal government can’t rely on its police power to avoid compensating gun owners who have had to turn over or destroy their bump stocks, the Northern District of Texas said Monday.
Only the several states have the general police powers that shield them from giving just compensation for taking private property, Judge Brantley Starr said for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
