The Federal Circuit voted to renew by a year the suspension of Judge Pauline Newman, the nation’s oldest active federal judge.
Newman’s fellow active judges who make up the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit’s Judicial Council voted unanimously to keep her from hearing new cases in an Aug. 29 order. They noted that Newman continued to refuse an order to undergo medical testing, which the council says has thwarted its investigation into her mental fitness that began in 2023.
