Fear ‘Creeping In’ to DEI Departments as Firms Weigh Rebranding

Law offices, law schools and corporations need to double down on rebranding their diversity, equity and inclusion programs, as attacks against them intensify, ABA panelists said Thursday at the ABA’s 50th National Conference on Professional Responsibility.

Given that President Donald Trump has “declared war” on even discussing DEI, let alone practicing its precepts, it makes sense to try to borrow a page from conservatives who have framed other political debates through catchy langauge changes such as turning “estate tax” into “death tax” to alter public perceptions, said Jason DeSanto, a senior lecturer at Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law. ...
