Facebook Beats Yoga Teacher’s Infringement Suit Over Hacked Page

Facebook Inc. acted quickly when a hacker took over the page of a yoga expert and shared copyrighted material, so it isn’t liable for the infringement that occurred, the Ninth Circuit affirmed Friday.

An unknown hacker gained administrator access to Raymond Long’s Bandha Yoga Facebook page and posted links displaying Long’s copyrighted images about the positive effects of yoga. The links directed viewers to a third-party website that showed pornographic images and also installed a virus on the viewer’s device, Long said.
