Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan joined in dissent of the majority’s historic decision overturning the right to abortion, warning that the outcome won’t stop the federal government from banning abortions nationwide.
The conservative majority Friday overturned Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which had reaffirmed 1973’s Roe, for one reason, according to the liberal dissenters, “because it has always despised them, and now it has the votes to discard them.”
