Ex-MoFo Partner Carlin to Leave Senior Justice Department Role

John Carlin is preparing to exit this summer as the Justice Department’s principal associate deputy attorney general, where he’s overseen corporate crime enforcement, DOJ said.

Carlin, who joined the department at the start of the Biden administration after four years as a partner at Morrison & Foerster, had “always made it clear” his service “would only be for a limited term,” Deputy Attorney General Lisa O. Monaco said in a prepared statement Thursday.

As the top official under Monaco, Carlin has worked to advance DOJ’s crackdown on white-collar crime, which awaits further recommendations from an internal advisory group.
