Ex-Maryland Official Loses Suit After Firing for Facebook Posts

A former Maryland official, who was fired due to his social media posts supporting Kyle Rittenhouse, saw his First Amendment retaliation claim dismissed by a federal court.

Arthur Love said that his Facebook posts were constitutionally protected, as he made them as a private citizen on a matter of public concern. He sued multiple defendants, including then-executive director of the Maryland Governor’s Office, Steven McAdams, who fired him. But Judge Julie R. Rubin of the US District Court for the District of Maryland said Monday that McAdams was protected from the claim by sovereign immunity.
