Judge Martin Jenkins was confirmed Tuesday to the California Supreme Court, becoming the first openly gay black justice on the state high court.
“In a very real sense, it’ll be difficult for me to think of someone better prepared than Marty Jenkins to assume the awesome responsibilities of this court,” said retired federal Judge Thelton Henderson, who was on the bench with Jenkins at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
Jenkins went from playing on the Seattle Seahawks to the University of San Francisco School of Law and then to the Alameda County District Attorney’s office. ...
